Joey let Miss Diddi's story sink in. He hadn't known that she was an accomplished painter. He felt horrible for her ruined art; Joey could sympathize with Miss Diddi's lost efforts at making her artistic dreams come true. Despite his sunken feelings, Joey couldn't help but wonder how it was that so many "perfect days" were frequently ruined by terrible occurances.
Suddenly Joey bolted upright. "I know who did it!" he shouted triumphantly. "Miss Diddi - follow me!"
