With a gulp, Joey introduced himself and began his routine.
"So...umm...have you ever wondered how meteorologists get their college degrees? I mean, couldn't they answer every test question with 'mostly sunny with a chance of precipitation'? How hard is that?" Joey paused for the audience's reaction. "Get it?" he stammered. "You know, weather...uncertainty..."
Silence pounded Joey's ears. He almost wished for 'booing' rather than the complete lack of response. He felt crushed; he had the urge to run off the stage, out of Grandtown, and straight back to the familiar comforts of Simpletown. Woeful, Joey was about to make his departing remark to the club and to his comedy career when a sudden series of "BANGS!" stopped him.
